Decorated Hoops

So I was so excited to use my new stuff and I couldn't wait to use it! I had to share with you how the ear wires came out. First I had some 24g wire that still does not seem to harden enough for a heavy dangle, but I think they will be fine for a light weight bead or crystal or something. The pair below are made with a 20 or 22G (oops I can't remember, the tag got lost). But they seem great. I thought they were perfect for a heavier decoration. That is why I used smokey quartz rondells and a green chrysocolla. I think they turned out pretty good. These are what I call my Decorated Hoops. They will be in the Etsy Shop soon!

  1. Great earrings...I've not made that particular ear wire much...but I do like how they look!

I always use 20g wire for ear wires...personally I find anything higher is too soft and doesn't hold it's shape well.

One thing you might consider is getting a tumbler...not only does it shine them up nicely it helps to harden the wires...I generally give them a few taps with the hammer when they come out but I don't have to.
    Cheers

  2. Thanks Azure for stopping by, and yes someone else told me about a tumbler. I am going to look into that. I was still wondering about the 20 or 22g. I was afraid the 20 would be too thick, but I think that would be best. Thanks again for the compliment and stopping by. Being sort of new (again) at this blogging makes it better when you can get feed back. Have a blessed day!
