New Items

Wow, it has been a long time since I have blogged. I have had a little road block, but I am still here. A blog update is a good idea and I just thought I would post some pics of some new items, some are at my Etsy store,
some are on my web site, some I haven't listed yet.

BACK 2 BASICS

It has been a minute, since I have posted and I have lost a few followers.(Oh well...) I am a firm believer in what is for me is for me and I had been praying that I would get an idea that would be a very popular among my customers. Well I got it and I have been so busy making these simple bracelets that I have not had time to take pics and post to etsy. I am thankful to God that my wonderful customers have been going crazy about these bracelets, so I decided to share them with you. There is a lot of uncharted territory and now I have to get them out there.

I am going to try to get more colors posted to Etsy soon. Thanks for looking!

Buckham Alley Fest 2011!

Well I got a few pic, thanks to my friend Tanja of Pristine Baskets She walked around and got a few shots for me.

Regardless of some of the conditions, the HEAT (ugh), and the cramped quarters, it was great and I would be glad to d, o it again next year.

My banner... did have a spot for it so I had to improvise. Looks a little chatty up there, but I wanted to use my banner, so there!

I don't know what I was looking at but this terrible pic of me makes me look like I was lost in space. I had such a headache from the heat and no matter how I tried I couldn't keep my table straight. But oh well, I managed to pull it off and be bubbly with the customers and not pass out from heat exhaustion.

Here are some random people and performers...

This poor kid, what where they doing to that little boy? LOL!

Some family and friends stopped by...

The even had a craft tent...

Finally a couple of other vendors and they even had an adult spelling bee.

All in all it was a great day! I enjoyed the atmosphere and hope to be there next year! Go FLINT!

The Green Thing

I thought this was interesting - How quick some of us forget... Watch who you are talking to.

In the line at the store, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized to him and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day."

The clerk responded, "*That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment."*

He was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled.

But we didn't have the green thing back in our day. We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.

But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day. Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that old lady is right; we didn't have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana..

In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.

But she's right; we didn't have the green thing back then. We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water.

We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service..

We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.

*But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then? *

*Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart mouth young person.*** Author Unknown

I Should Have Taken Pictures :(

I had such a great jewelry week and week-end. From the fundraiser at work to the Carriage Town Arts & Crafts Fair, everything was fantastic. However, I did not take any pictures. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I wasn't. Oh well, I really don't like taking pictures anyway, and if you know about me even a little bit, taking pictures of the jewelry and all that you have to do to get them half way decent for the internet is really a thorn in my side. Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great week and here are a few more pics of some other items that sold.

Great Week!

What a great week so far selling, selling, selling! A fund raiser at my job allows me to set up my creations for people to buy during work hours. I have done this all week and it has been fantastic and I have still got 2 more days to go. Then, Saturday I am doing an art fair.

Here are some of the items that have sold, some that I sold I didn't have pics though.

That's all that I am going to upload for now. Maybe I will show you what else sold later. :)
